MFM#61 Why enquiries feel unpredictable

increasing enquiries marketing strategies practice growth Feb 22, 2026

A lot of solo therapists are doing a lot of different marketing things.

Continually tweaking their website.

Posting on social media.

Updating directory profiles.

Meeting with referrers.

Maybe even trying paid ads.

And yet enquiries still often feel inconsistent.

Some weeks enquiries and appointments are okay, other weeks are really quiet. That unpredictability can make you feel like you have little control over your caseload numbers and are never quite sure where the next client will come from.

Most of the time, the problem isn’t the amount of effort you’re putting into marketing.

It’s that the marketing pieces aren’t connected together strongly enough.

Marketing works best when each part builds on the next and supports each other.

Instagram is far more effective when you’re clear on your niche, and your website reinforces the same message.

Google Ads convert better when the ad message speaks to the pain points and desired future of a specific niche, and your website then builds on that, connecting even more deeply with that niche.

Referrer relationships become stronger when you can confidently articulate who you specifically work with and why you’re well-suited to support them.

As I often say, when the therapy marketing stars align, your practice fills with clients.

When each piece stands alone and is created in isolation, marketing becomes disjointed, messaging is inconsistent, and it becomes harder to connect with a prospective client, build trust, and help them feel confident that you’re the best therapist to help them.

When marketing activities build on and support each other, momentum grows.

You start connecting with ideal prospective clients.

That connection is deepened through all marketing activities working together - website, social media, directories, ads, and referrer relationships.

You begin attracting more of the right people.

Your enquiries become more consistent.

Your caseload becomes more predictable.

This is why I created Marketing School for Solo Therapists: to guide you through creating each piece in the right order, so they build on and strengthen one another. And ultimately help you create the practice you've been dreaming about.

Enrolment is now open if you’d like support putting those pieces together.
